Gleneagles is frequently referred to as “the world’s best golf resort”. Its chairman – Peter Lederer – is also the Director for Scotland of Diageo, the world’s leading premium drinks company. Peter is also a non-exec director of my Danish client Karin Sode’s leadership consultancy – Karin Sode International.
For a recent project, I interviewed Peter and Karin for a thought piece on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Specifically – we considered the idea that many organisations pay ‘lip service’ to CSR but very often don’t put their money where their mouth is. CSR is connected, of course, with an organisaton’s values more broadly. We saw in the recent financial crisis what happens when values essentially go ‘out of the window’.
In much of Karin’s recent work, she is supporting organisations to better align their values with their people agenda. She also does a lot of 1:1 executive coaching in which she helps senior leaders to understand their own values and to have confidence and gravitas to challenge the status quo in their own organisations.
